------------------------------------------------------------------ RELEASE NOTES for SAMwrap v8.2 October 2002 ------------------------------------------------------------------ (c) Copyright 2002 Macrovision Corporation. All rights reserved. * SAMwrap v8.2 is built using FLEXlm v8.2a for all platforms, except Solaris. Solaris is built with FLEXlm v8.2b. * There are no important bug fixes in this release, except those that have been fixed in FLEXlm. For a complete list of fixed bugs in FLEXlm, please read the FLEXlm RELEASE_NOTES located in the machind directory of a FLEXlm v8.2 installation. * SAMwrap v8.2 does not use any FLEXlm features introduced since FLEXlm v7.0. ------------- For New Users ------------- To start working with SAMwrap, please read the UNIX or Windows QuickStart file in the SAMwrap download area at Globetrotter’s web site and the SAMwrap Users Guide. ----------------- For Current Users ----------------- SAMwrap v8.2 is compatible with SAMwrap v7.0. Therefore, if you have a valid SAMwrap v7.0 license file, SAMwrap v8.2 will work with that license file without any changes. If you add any new features to your SAMwrap license file, you will notice that the length of the license key generated by the SAMwrap v8.2 license generator is 12 digits, rather than the previous length of 20 digits. A 20-digit license key includes an embedded license start date; the default 12-digit license key does not. If you prefer to generate 20-digit license keys for backward compatibility, from the command line, type: swcrypter -verfmt 5 When you issue this command, the license generator will generate 20-digit license keys only for FEATURE lines whose license keys were set to 0. No other FEATURE lines will be changed. You can also generate 20-digit license keys on Windows. In the Advanced settings section of the “SAMwrap Application Information” dialog, check “Ver. 5 signature (20 digits with embedded start date)” check box for every application whose license you want to generate with a 20-digit license key. All other application licenses will be generated with 12-digit license keys. Therefore, a valid SAMwrap v8.2 license file can contain a mix of 12- and 20-digits license keys. However, older versions of SAMwrap will not accept 12-digit license keys.
